In 1986, a 35-year-old sales executive working for a multinational pharmaceutical company fed up with middle management politics decided to call it quits after 10 years of work.

With two kids, 5 and 3 years young, and a family home under construction, it seemed like a questionable decision then to leave a secure job with nothing exciting on the horizon.

A husband-and-wife team set up a new business, named Angel Imports after their youngest daughter, Angela, who was affectionately called Angel at home.

All the business had in 1986 was a humble shipment worth $2,000, a typewriter and a 15-year-old van. The most valuable asset, however, was sheer determination to make the venture a success.
